The maid who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of rape wants him to go to prison. She stated this in an interview with Newsweek magazine, in which she outlined her version of events on May 14 at the Sofitel Hotel in New York. Guinean maid Nafissatou Diallo continues to insist that the former IMF chief raped her. She insists that she does not need money and that she wants to restore her good name.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn categorically denies all accusations. He claims that he had a consensual sexual relationship with the maid. This scandal cost Strauss-Kahn his position as head of the IMF. But if he is acquitted, the financier will be able to return to French politics, says Olga Pavlenko, head of the international relations department of the Russian State University for the Humanities.

"The fact that the maid came out with a refutation of the position of Strauss-Kahn's lawyers is natural. The situation will continue to escalate. Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a kind of opponent of Sarkozy, who is rapidly losing popularity at the French level. If Dominique is convicted, then Sarkozy will have one less serious opponent,” says Olga Pavlenko.

Strauss-Kahn's lawyers called the maid's interview an "indecent circus." Previously, the investigation found that Nafissatou Diallo repeatedly lied during the investigation, and there are doubts about the reliability of her testimony. Therefore, the French politician is at large.

The head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was arrested in New York in May of this year. He was suspected of attempting to rape a 32-year-old maid at the local Sofitel hotel. The court initially sent the official to prison, but then released him on bail in the amount of $1 million and placed him under house arrest.

The official denied the accusations against him from the very beginning, but resigned from his post as head of the IMF. At the end of June, it turned out that the plaintiff had repeatedly lied during interrogations, which is why the prosecutor's office had doubts about the advisability of further prosecution of Strauss-Kahn. On July 1, a New York court released the former head of the IMF from house arrest on an obligation to appear in court at the first requirement.

According to Newsweek sources, the investigation into the Strauss-Kahn case has practically reached a dead end. Investigators do not know whether to continue pressing charges against Strauss-Kahn, and are now collecting all possible evidence in his case.
