The famous director Lars von Trier, whose ironic remarks about Hitler's love were a scandal at the Cannes Film Festival, had to apologize again - this time after the Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik called his film "Dogville" among his favorite paintings, reports Newsru.ua with reference to Russia 24 .

“It becomes simply bad for me when I think that my best film could serve as a kind of script for him,” said the director in an interview with the Danish newspaper Politiken . “If it is confirmed that he was inspired by my film, then I was just in the despair that I shot it.”

Recall that the final scene in the film, in which the heroine shoots the whole village, is very similar to the battle, which the Norwegian made on July 22 on the island of Utoya, killing dozens of people.

The director explained that he wanted to ask his spectators whether they could accept the main character who arranged such a cruel massacre for revenge. "I did not want the viewer to associate myself with the main character, on the contrary, I myself absolutely distance him from revenge. In other words, I laid in my picture not a monochrome content at all," he said.

In the same interview, Lars von Trier said that the extreme right of the Danish People’s Party is conducting an anti -Muslim course, which "corresponds to the policy preached by Brayvik," and demanded that the leader of the PIA Kirsgor DNP "take part of the responsibility for what happened in Norway." “This racism,” he said, “spread to other countries of Northern Europe and established himself in the minds of Breivik, undoubtedly providing him with the arguments he needed.”

Representatives of the DNP categorically rejected the director’s accusations and doubted the right of a person who is “a Nazis” to reproach someone with sharp rhetoric.
