British demand to include in the program of the Olympiad fighting gladiators

In the UK, a league of activists was created for inclusion in the program of the Olympic Games of Gladiators' battles, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to sources in local sports circles.

In recent years, gladiatorial battles have become very popular in the United Kingdom. So, the other day they took place in the center of London in the courtyard of Gildhall, who for centuries served the city town hall. In the immediate vicinity of this Gothic building, archaeologists recently discovered the foundation of the amphitheater, which was also used for gladiatorial battles.

Competitions of modern gladiators were held under the auspices of the London Museum. The teams of the modern capital of England - London and the ancient - Kolchester participated in it.

The beginning of the conquest of Britain by the Romans was laid by Julius Caesar. In August 55 BC, he landed with two legions on the shore of foggy Albion. Very quickly, Britain was conquered and many Roman traditions, including the battles of gladiators, were widespread here.

However, after the Roman protectorate of Britain was canceled by Emperor Honorie, Roman troops and a significant part of the Roman citizens left the island. At the same time, the Roman lifestyle came into decay.

Now the efforts of enthusiasts in the UK are reviving gladiator battles, which, however, are conducted according to the new rules. The popularity of this type of entertainment has now reached such a level that a number of enthusiasts intend to achieve recognition of its sports discipline and include in the program of the Olympic Games.
