The Gomez Research Center, the Compuware division, called Chrome the fastest browser, reports CNews.ru . The browser from Google took first place in the real speed of downloading sites during a new study to measure the speed of downloading websites from users of various browsers.
Within a month, researchers have analyzed more than 1.8 billion downloads of about 200 resources. Experts emphasize that they analyzed, based on how browsers work for real users, and not in laboratory conditions.
The sites of Chrome 12 users, the last at the time of the experiment of the version of this browser (Chrome 13 recently, have recently been loaded, are loaded. The average page load speed on Chrome 12 was 3.433 seconds. The Chrome 11 indicator is about 3.7 seconds, and Chrome 10 is 4 seconds.
The Firefox browser took second place in terms of loading speed. The average indicator when using the Firefox 5 version was about 3.9 seconds. Page loading time when using more old versions of the program turned out to be slightly lower.
The most modest results showed Safari from Apple and Internet Explorer from Microsoft. Safari 5 loads pages, on average, in 4.5 seconds, and Internet Explorer 9 requires more than 4.5 seconds, on average. The worst indicator among all versions participating in the study, Safari 4 has more than 6 seconds.
The researchers, however, for some reason ignored the Opera browser, which is very popular in Russia, perhaps because in the world market its share is very small.
As the second indicator, Gomez experts also investigated the rendering speed - the time required for the visible part of the page to appear on the screen. According to this indicator, Firefox 5 was ahead of Chrome 12 - 2.18 seconds against 2.374 seconds, respectively.
