Nuclear Control & Consulting Managing Director: Three to four years later, Rosatom will receive a significant share of molybdenum supply to the world market

On September 4-8, for the first time in Russia, the VII International Conference on Isotopes is held in Russia. The conference was organized by the State Corporation Rosatom. In the key for science and business of the international event in the isotopic industry of this year, the elite of the world isotopic industry takes part. Among the conference participants are the World Isotopes Council, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Belgian Nuclear Research Center, the organization of nuclear science and Australia technologies and a number of other leading world of isotopes. At the initiative of Rosatom, for the first time in the conference, in addition to plenary, sectional meetings and exhibitions of the latest developments in the field of isotopic production and equipment, a business program is included in which participants will be able to discuss issues of creating a favorable climate for investment, expanding the possibilities of using isotopes and increasing production facilities.

One of the main problems in the production of radiopharmaceuticals is the high cost of entering the market, and, in addition, there is a problem in the return of investments. The return of investments in this case takes a lot of time.

I think the therapy market will grow. From my point of view, the only possibility of growth for nuclear medicine is the further development of such a direction as directed vehicles of drugs, now many successful and intended for each patient of such projects is being developed. So this will work in the treatment of the most significant cancer, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer and the like. I think it will be a very noticeable step forward for nuclear medicine.

In the future, Russia will play a dominant role in the isotopes market, first of all, having now begun to supply molybdenum. I believe that after three to four years, Rosatom will receive a significant share of molybdenum supplies to the world market. In addition, as I learned from the discussions at the isotopic conference, Russia is truly interested in partnership with Western countries to develop and produce radiopharmaceuticals for the entire world market. And I think that this will also become an important element of production in the nuclear medicine of Russia.
