“Right Cause,” having lost its leader, decided to go to the polls despite the very dubious chance of any success. The Kremlin liberals failed to attract a celebrity under their banner after the scandal with Mikhail Prokhorov, and, moreover, under time pressure: on September 19, it was decided that the federal list would be headed by acting chairman Andrei Dunaev, head of the party’s executive committee, who was at the origins of the merger of three parties (the Union Right Forces, Democratic Party of Russia and “Civil Force”) in “Right Cause”. The question of a new party leader has been postponed until better times (if they come). It is still unknown who will join Dunaev in the top three. Throughout the day, conflicting information appeared: the names of the former co-chairman of the party Georgy Bovt, television journalist Vladimir Solovyov, the leader of the Moscow branch of the party Boris Nadezhdin and the former leader of the Democratic Party of Russia Andrei Bogdanov were mentioned. The composition of the troika will be discussed on September 20. Nadezhdin, representing fragments of the Union of Right Forces, has already stated that if Bogdanov is nominated, he and other former members of the Union of Right Forces will leave the party. Another former SPS member, as well as former co-chairman of Right Cause, Leonid Gozman, has already announced his resignation from the party. By the way, when “Right Cause” was just being formed, the condition of the SPS members included in it was the absence of Bogdanov and the then leader of “Civil Force” Mikhail Barshchevsky from the party. Barshchevsky actually left, and Bogdanov remained as an ordinary member of the party, who, however, retained some ambitions - for example, he tried to run for mayor of Sochi when party co-chair Gozman supported the candidacy of Boris Nemtsov. Mikhail Prokhorov called Bogdanov one of the participants in the raider takeover of the party congress and even managed to sign a decision to expel him from the party, but the congress reinstated him the next day. Bogdanov then emphasized that he did not claim leadership.
