A new high-profile crime was committed on Friday morning in the capital of Dagestan. On the outskirts of Makhachkala, unknown persons killed the deputy head of the FSIN department for Dagestan, internal service colonel Magomed Murtazaliev, as well as his daughter, nephew and driver.

As reported by RIA Novosti with reference to investigators, the attack occurred at 07:45 Moscow time near the village of Semender. The criminals opened fire on the Volga car, in which the deputy head of the Federal Penitentiary Service was located along with his daughter, nephew and driver. As a result of the shelling, the car caught fire, and none of the four dead managed to get out of it.

At the moment, an operational investigation team is working at the scene, the circumstances of the crime are being clarified.

According to preliminary information, Murtazaliev was heading to work in a company car in the morning. The killers shot at the Volga from a passing Russian car.

Murtazaliev headed the operational apparatus of the Dagestan Federal Penitentiary Service. His competence included issues related to the observance of law and order in the correctional institutions of the republic. In Dagestan there are three pre-trial detention centers, three correctional colonies, one settlement colony, one medical correctional institution and one educational colony.

On Wednesday evening, a car in which a bomb was allegedly being transported exploded in the center of Makhachkala. Four people in the car were killed, and five passers-by were injured. After midnight, two more explosions occurred in the city with an interval of 15 minutes, killing a policeman and injuring more than 60 people. And on Wednesday morning in Buinaksk, the car of the district police chief came under fire, killing two of his guards. Finally, on Thursday evening, unknown persons fired at the police station building in the city of Dagestan Lights, there were no casualties.
