Activist Udaltsov was sentenced to arrest for protest at the Congress of "EP" and announced a hunger strike

The coordinator of the “Left Front” Sergey Udaltsov was sentenced by the court by the court by three days of administrative arrest for participating in an unauthorized action near the Gostiny Dvor in Moscow, where the United Russia congress was held on Friday.

"The meeting has just ended in the Tver court. The judge determined the punishment in the form of three days of arrest," Udaltsov said on Saturday "Interfax."

He noted that all the arguments made by him about the illegality of his detention were "not taken into account." “They decided again to hide me in jail, not wanting to listen to our arguments,” Udaltsov said.

He added that in the coming days he would appeal to this court decision and simultaneously declare a dry hunger strike.

This is the fifth arrest of the opposition this year.

Udaltsov was detained for participating in an unauthorized rally last Friday near the Gostiny Dvor in Moscow, where the United Russia Congress took place. On Saturday morning, he felt ill at a court hearing, where the issue of his punishment for participating in the action was considered. He was charged with Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("disobedience to the legal requirements of police officers"), which provides for a punishment in the form of administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
