The Russian Orthodox Church is considered the proposal of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev to nominate the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the highest state post with an example of morality in politics.

"When, even in the history of Russia, the highest power in the state was transmitted so peacefully, honestly, in a friendly way? This is a real example of kindness and morality in politics, an example, in my opinion, can be envied not only by our predecessors and people who lived in Soviet times, but also citizens of most countries of the world, including those who are trying to teach us," said the head of the synodal department of the Church and society. At the same time, the priest admitted that political competition was needed, and suggested that it would become more over time, Interfax reports. “However, in a country where the person who leads the vertical of power depends on the world, well -being and even the life of millions of people, the transfer of power should be as responsible as possible, should exclude the frontal clashes of not just personalities, but large social groups that these personalities can pull up to their side,” the representative of the church said.
