The owner of Domodedovo Dmitry Kamenchik in the future sees his asset as part of an aerotopolis. The project received the approval of the municipal authorities of the Domodedovo district, but has not yet been agreed with the federal center. But we can say easier: the billionaire decided to earn not only at the airport business, but also on developing. Moreover, we are talking about the territory of New Moskva.
The authorship of the theory belongs to the professor of the University of North Carolina John Kasard, who has been advising Domodedovo since 2011. In his opinion, modern city airports will turn into real cities, or “aerotopolis”. Residents and guests of such mini-gorods should have the opportunity to conduct business, exchange knowledge, go shopping, eat and sleep in the immediate vicinity of the airport terminal, which became the new center of attraction of business activity in the 21st century (following sea ports and railway units in past periods). Infrastructure and objects to cover the needs of the population of “Aerotropolis” will appear in any case, the creators of the theory indicate, another question - whether this process will be chaotic or ordered.
Examples of “Aerotropolis” in the world: Las-Kolinas in Texas , “South Axis” in Amsterdam , Songdo Business Circle in South Korea , “Panatropolis” in Panama .
DME Chairman Dmitry Kamenchik: “Working on the general plan of the airport, we found that its borders go to 10-15, sometimes 20 kilometers for the controlled area of the airport itself and for decades from the present. The airport causes an increase in economic activity. To a certain extent, it attracts businesses and people. This reflective fact itself at best, according to our observations, is the cause of airport stagnation, and in the worst case - sometimes even the cause of their death. From the very beginning, we wanted to know if this scenario is inevitable for us ... We realized that the airport should be protected by a general plan for a young man ... At a certain stage, we found the concept of Aerotropolis. What is Aerotropolis? This is a synergistic kenurgition around the airport, that is, this type of development ... which appeared not only in connection with the activities of the airport, but also supports the development of the airport in itself. ”
The term “Aerotropolis” sounds beautiful, but how does it help “Domodedovo” to cope with the queues when registering at a flight and on passport control, difficulties with parking and obsessive taxi drivers? According to Dmitry Kamenchik, the number of passengers in the summer of 2011 increased by 20%. The existing staff of the airport employees and border guards did not allow to quickly cope with such an influx. It is planned to expand the passenger terminal, from next year the number of “islands” of registration will be increased from 132 to 148, and the load on them is supposed to be reduced due to the terminals of self -registration. In addition, the airport management sent a request to the Federal Border Service to increase the number of its detachment in Domodedovo by several hundred people. As for parking, by the end of 2014 it is planned to build multi -tiered parking lots, which will increase the total number of parking lots more than doubles - from 4700 to 9700.
