Sobyanin to the 70th anniversary of the battle for Moscow congratulated veterans

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin gave on Saturday the beginning of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the battle for Moscow - one of the key in the Great Patriotic War. In the morning, he visited veterans in the boarding house "Konkovo", and after he held the ceremony of presenting the memorable signs "70 years of the battle for Moscow" in the historical white hall of the Moscow City Hall on Tverskaya, 13.

In Konkovo, the mayor showed a museum of combat glory, created by the hands of veterans, in which the chronicle of their life is represented, the combat path, ITAR-TASS reports. The mayor was asked to provide assistance in installing the monument to front -line soldiers on the territory of the boarding house. “Okay, we will do it!” Sobyanin promised. After that, he praised the veterans for the appearance, and they said that in the boarding house they live "like in paradise."

Then the mayor entered the assembly hall, where festive tables for veterans were covered, and congratulated them on the day of an elderly person, which is celebrated on October 1. “You are not like the elderly. You are young with your soul. The story of each of you is amazing,” the mayor addressed the veterans. He recalled that the average life expectancy in Moscow is 72 years, and the average age of veterans in social institutions is 88 years.

At the city hall, he handed commemorative signs to veterans of war, who were directly involved in this battle. According to the mayor, these commemorative signs will be awarded to all participants in the battle, regardless of their place of residence. Sobyanin also noted that on jubilee days it is also important to understand the problems of each veteran, to help him.

“You won the battle not only for Moscow, you won the battle for our homeland, for the Soviet Union, for Russia,” the mayor turned to veterans. "Thank God you are in good health, in such a good form, with a good mood. I sincerely congratulate you on awards, on the anniversary, which will soon be celebrated in Moscow," he said.

The mayor also noted the importance of preserving the memory of the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. “A country that remembers and knows its history will be successful,” he added.

Veterans, receiving awards, thanked Sobyanin and shared the memories of the war. Among the 17 Herness of the Battle of City Hall of the Battle of Moscow were pilots, sappers, infantrymen, arrows, signalmen awarded in the White Hall. Among the awarded by the award are the heroes of the Soviet Union Stepan Mikoyan and Vasily Reshetnikov, as well as the Hero of Socialist Labor Pavel Galanov.
