Assad promises missile attacks on Israel, shelling of ships in the Persian Gulf and arson of oil deposits

Syria will cause missile attacks on Israel if NATO begins military operations in the country. This, as Interfax reports, threatened Syria President Bashar al -Assad in an interview with the Foreign Minister of Turkey Akhmet Davutoglu.

The world media expect that later on Tuesday, the UN Security Council on the Syria resolution may vote on Tuesday. However, the Arab media notes that this draft resolution is unlikely to be approved.

“If crazy measures are taken against Damascus, I need no more than six hours to move hundreds of missiles to Golan heights and strike Tel Aviv,” Assad said. The President of Syria also threatened that he would call the Hizballlah movement in Lebanon to strike at Israel.

“All these events will occur in the first three hours, but in the remaining three hours Iran will fire around American ships in the Persian Gulf, so that European and American interests will suffer,” he said.

Newsru Israel also quotes the Iranian agency FARS, transmitting the words of Assad. According to this quote, one of the consequences of the attack on Syria will be arson of oil fields in the Gulf region, as well as the blockade of the Strait of the Ormuzian Strait, through which the lion's share of the Middle Eastern oil is exported.

Thus, the Syrian leader responded to the warning of the Turkish minister about the possible actions of NATO and the United States if Assad does not stop the reprisal against the opposition.

Earlier today it became known that Turkish Prime Minister Riddepa Tayyip Erdogan supports the draft resolution of the UN Security Council with condemnation of Syria. Erdogan also said that he was considering imposing sanctions against Damascus.

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Gennady Gatilov, said that Moscow was opposed to the specified draft resolution, as he sees in it an attempt to intervene in the internal affairs of Syria.

According to the latest data, the total number of those killed in Syria over the past six months amounted to 2,700 people.
