In the Syrian Homs fired at the Buildingsgaz Representative Office

The representative office of the Russian company "Stroytransgaz" was fired in the Syrian city of Homs, ITAR-TASS reports with reference to the Department of Information and Press of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"On the night of October 5, the service premises of the Stroytransgaz branch in Homs, located on the eighth floor of a high -rise building were subjected to shelling from automatic weapons," the ministry noted. "As a result of this criminal action, no one was injured."

"In connection with this Embassy of Russia in Syria, operational steps were taken to strengthen the safety measures of the representative office of this company and Russian citizens," the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The ministry considers "what happened as an obvious confirmation of the fact that the irreconcilable Syrian opposition, trying to arrest the overthrow of the regime existing in Syria, has embarked on the path of using terror methods against civilians, as well as institutions and organizations, including foreign ones involved in the provision of normal life in the country."

According to the foreign policy, "the application of such terrorist methods deserves the most decisive international condemnation." "In this regard, we confirm our fundamental position in favor of the speedy cessation of violence in the country and the use of peaceful political means in search of a way out of the current crisis in Syria," the Foreign Ministry added.

Recall that the riots in the Arab Republic began in the spring of this year on the wave of a general rise in the "Arab Spring" and are still ongoing. Due to measures used to suppress illegal actions, the ruling regime of Bashar al-Assad is under the fire of international criticism. According to Western countries that were the first to begin to impose sanctions against the country, the regime uses too cruel measures to suppress popular unrest.

On October 4, Russia and China at the UN Security Council imposed a veto on a draft resolution on Syria. Proposed by France, Great Britain, Portugal and Germany, the document blamed human victims during the riots for the current government of the country and provided for the possibility of accepting sanctions if violence did not cease within 30 days.

Representatives of various currents in the Syrian opposition negatively reacted to such actions of Russia and did not exclude the possibility of holding protests from embassies that have laid out the veto states.

Stroytransgaz OJSC was created in 1990 and is engaged in contracting activities in various countries, conducts the design and construction of pipeline systems, oil and gas production facilities, and gas storage facilities. One of the founders of the company is Gazprom OJSC. In early June 2009 It became known that structures close to businessman Gennady Timchenko, who is the founder and main beneficiary of the Volga Resources Foundation, intend to consolidate about 80% of Stroytransgaz. Currently, structures close to Timchenko are controlled by approximately 66.73% of Stroytransgaz shares. The company's net profit on Russian accounting standards in the first half of 2011 amounted to 1.264 billion rubles against a loss earlier.
