Onishchenko: Anti -tobacco bill is faced with the resistance of the "shameless mafia"

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, the chief state sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation Gennady Onishchenko expects fierce resistance to the bill, which sharply limits smoking in public places and the sale of cigarettes. “The fate of this law is very difficult. Now there is a fierce resistance,” Onishchenko told reporters in Moscow on Friday.

He stated that the adoption of this bill is trying to interfere with the "shameless and cynical mafia that exists in our country." "400 billion cigarettes that Russia produces today without growing a single tobacco bush on its territory is the patrimony of the four largest transnational tobacco offices," the head of the Rospotrebnadzor "Interfax" quotes.

Onishchenko said that a project that limits the use of tobacco, which is introduced by the Ministry of Health and Social Development, is necessary for Russia. "The Ministry of Health has introduced a very progressive, very stringent draft law on tobacco, which provides and takes into account the experience of all European countries," Onyshchenko said.

Recall, on the eve, it became known that manufacturers of tobacco and hoteliers asked the president and prime minister not to adopt a zesktius anti -tobacco bill, which promotes the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

Experts about the project are expressed almost as “radical” - it allows you to sell cigarettes only in large stores, and smoking in all public places is prohibited.

In appeal to the authorities, the Rusbrand Association calls the ban on the sale of tobacco products in non -stationary retail facilities and stores with an area of ​​less than 50 square meters. m excess, and also gives the consequences of such a measure - the closure of 120-150 thousand stalls and kiosks throughout the country and the non -and -term redistribution of sales volumes in favor of larger trade operators not only tobacco, but also of other products - drinks, confectionery and bakery products, and snacks.

The Federation of restaurateurs and hoteliers, respectively, is concerned about the ban on the sale of tobacco products in hotels and public catering places, as well as a ban on smoking in such institutions (the situation should earn in 2015). They believe that the ban will lead to trading cigarettes from the hands, and "restaurants, cafes and bars will suffer from the outflow of visitors and will be forced to close."

The representative of the Ministry of Health and Social Development Sofya Malyavina was surprised by the position of restaurateurs. The bill was discussed with representatives of the industry and harsh criticism from them did not follow, she claims. Other ministries should give their conclusions under the bill until the end of October, after which the project will be sent to the government - most likely, until the end of the year.
