Former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov will meet with the investigator who is handling the Bank of Moscow embezzlement case no earlier than the second half of November. This was reported to Kommersant by the President of the Moscow Bar Association, Genri Reznik, to whom Luzhkov turned for legal assistance. The lawyer explained that the former mayor is currently giving lectures abroad, and then Reznik himself will have to go abroad to give lectures.

Luzhkov's summons for questioning as a witness became known on October 24. The former mayor himself confirmed the summons and explained that he could not appear before the investigator yet, as he was busy abroad. He linked the summons to his recent interview with Radio Liberty, in which he predicted a loss of votes for United Russia and called Dmitry Medvedev a president "incapable of solving the country's problems" and a "very weak" potential prime minister, while saying that Vladimir Putin's return to the presidency was "more correct." A source for Vedomosti in the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that there was no politics in the case, it was simply "there was a need for this interrogation."

In April, investigators also summoned Baturina for questioning in this case, and her press secretary Gennady Terebkov reported at the time that Baturina did not refuse to testify. However, as an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported, Baturina's questioning did not take place - she simply did not come from abroad. It was not possible to obtain comments from Baturina. According to a representative of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Baturina is not a defendant in this case.
