The Eurasian Union could play an active role in determining the fate of the world, according to the Russian Orthodox Church

In the Moscow Patriarchate, they were enthusiastically perceived by the idea of ​​Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on the formation of the Eurasian Union in the future.

“I hope that the Eurasian Union will go down in history as one of the most powerful international associations and will positively affect everything that is happening in the world, and even more so on what is happening among the peoples that created it,” said the head of the Synodal Department for the relationship between the Church and Society, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin on the air of the Orthodox television channel Soyuz, Interfax reports.

In his opinion, within the framework of such a union, it is necessary to “crystallize its own political culture of our countries, which would not be blindly borrowed from a particular source - usually Western, and which would be based on the centuries -old traditions of our policy, our principles of relations between the authorities and the people, our models of the participation of the people, including its different budgets, in the authorities of certain decisions, in the adjustment of the authorities, in adjusting Course of power. "

In addition, according to the clergyman, the Eurasian Union should play "an active role in determining the fate of the world and its individual regions, whether it be Balkans, the Middle East, Latin America and so on."

According to Vsevolod Chaplin, today no peoples survive one by one and cannot adequately affect world processes, and hence their own fate, "and the fact of creating supranational organizations in Africa, the Islamic world, North and South America speaks of this."

“We need to unite in order to be stronger together, to use the great potential that our ancestors gave us in order to defend our values ​​together, including the values ​​of Orthodox civilization, and most peoples who live in the so -called post -Soviet space are Orthodox peoples,” the priest said.

Moreover, he continued, among the Islamic peoples who live in some parts of this space, namely in the Caucasus and Central Asia, there are a large number of Orthodox.

Vsevolod Chaplin expressed the hope that within the framework of the Eurasian Union, mutual support will be carried out "not only on paper, but also in practice - in those situations where support is needed when one or another people encounter economic difficulties, there will be a danger of external pressure or internal perch, provoked again by external forces."

“Russia should not be the gendarme of Europe, as it began to be called once again after the formation of the organization of the collective security agreement, but Russia should be partially helped by the peoples in cases where they try to rape and change their historical choice in addition to their will,” he is convinced.

Recall that in early October, an article by Vladimir Putin was published , which stated that "the construction of the Customs Union (Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. - Ed. ) And the Unified Economic Space lays the basis for the formation of the Eurasian Economic Union in the future." At the same time, there will be a gradual expansion of the circle of participants in the Customs Union and EEP due to a full connection to the work of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The head of the government expressed confidence that "the addition of natural resources, capital, strong human potential will allow the Eurasian Union to be competitive in the industrial and technological race, in competition for investors, for creating new jobs and advanced industries and, along with other key players and regional structures - such as the EU, the USA, APEC - to ensure the stability of global development."
