In Kaliningrad, the forum "Atomic production, society, safety - 2011" was held in Kaliningrad

On November 2, in Kaliningrad, the IV was completed by the IV regional forum -dialogue “Nuclear production, society, safety - 2011”, organized by the public council of the State Corporation Rosatom. This was reported by the press service of the Rosenergoatom concern.

Representatives of the European Union, Poland, Germany, Ukraine and Belarus, and international environmental organizations took part in the two -day forum. The Russian side was represented by the State Corporation "Rosatom", OJSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", the scientific and environmental organizations of the country, the government and the public of the Kaliningrad region, the media.

Opening the forum, the First Deputy General Director of Rosatom State Corporation Alexander Lokshin noted that the development of atomic energy is impossible without support from wide public layers. “Rosatom is always open to an honest and interested dialogue with all representatives of public and environmental organizations, local authorities and self -government,” he emphasized.

The choice of the Kaliningrad region as a platform for the regional forum-dialogue was not accidental-it is here that the large-scale work of the preparatory cycle of the construction of the Baltic nuclear power plant is underway, which in the future will not only ensure the energy dependence of this region, but also allow it to turn into electricity exporters in the EU. It is assumed that 51% of investments will be carried out by OJSC "Concern Rosenergoatom", up to 49% - one or more private investors, including foreign ones. In this regard, Russia invited Lithuania, Poland and other European countries to co -invest at nuclear power plants with guarantees for obtaining a proportional volume of electricity.

The joint implementation of the project for the development of the interstate network infrastructure will help the practical implementation of the strategic partnership of Russia-ES in the field of electric power industry, which includes the creation of the technological and economic conditions for the integration of energy markets, will help increase the reliability of the energy security of Western Europe and the Baltic States, the unification of the energy systems of the Baltic and European countries through the transit Kaliningrad energy system, and also Organizations of joint trading projects for the implementation of an excess of electricity (capacity) of the Kaliningrad energy system with ENTSO-E through direct current inserts.

As part of the forum, for the first time, the platform of the Baltic Nuclear Military District was visited by an official representative of the Lithuanian government, an employee of the Energy Security Department of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry, Samuel Wilius. “We received a lot of information about the project,” he emphasized.

Foreign participants in the forum noted that it was a continuation of the whole cycle of meetings of Russian specialists with representatives of the Western public and state authorities to clarify the characteristics and advantages of the Baltic NPP project, as well as the participation of foreign investors in it. Despite the fact that Russia has not yet ratified the Convention on Environmental impact assessment in the cross -border context (Espo Convention), the Rosatom State Corporation and the Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC are leaning on its provisions.
