The Minister of Finance of Greece Evangelos Veniselos demanded not to hold a referendum on the stay of Greece in the eurozone, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Greek TV channels. Venizelos was supported by the first deputy minister of finance Pantelis icon, Minister of Development Mikhalis Chrysochoidis and the first deputy minister of education of Fofi Gennym.

Veniselos said that the place of Greece in the eurozone could not be called into question. "This achievement of the Greek people cannot depend on the referendum," he said.

According to the icon, he opens against the idea of ​​a referendum in the form in which it was described by the Greek Prime Minister Georgios Papandreu, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy: whether Greece will be a member of the Monetary Union.

“I will do everything that I can not get to the referendum,” Gennimuta said. “Now the fastest ratification by the parliament of the recent EU summit is more important, which leads Greece out of the impasse. As Papandreu said, a referendum may take place on December 4 or 5. "The purpose of the referendum is to find out if we want to stay in the euro zone. This is quite clear," he said. “I believe that the people of Greece want us to be strong partners of the eurozone,” Papandreu added.

Sarkozy said that Greece will not receive a new tranche of a loan of 8 billion euros until a referendum on a package of next hard economy measures will take place.
