Catholic priests called to "revive" sermon "scandal"

The head of the Papal Council for Culture Cardinal Dzhanfranko Ravazi believes that the sermons that Catholic priests appear before the flock are often painfully “gray”. In order to overcome their "dullness", the Vatican hierarch suggested "reviving" their "scandals" taken from biblical traditions.

According to Ravazi, who performed at a conference in Rome, the template and boredom of church sermons may lead to the fact that they can become simply uninteresting and unnecessary for the flock, accustomed to the energetic style of materials on television and on the Internet, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reports.

According to the cardinal, the style of television and online information "requires us so that we are irresistible and sharp, concentrate on essence, turn to colorful descriptions."

Too many priests use dry and dull theological language, and instead they should season their sermons with bright stories contained in the Bible, which more often resorts to living images.

Twitter, according to the cardinal, can also become an effective way to spread the Word of God.

"We must remember that the preaching of faith can be proclaimed not only from the church department. The same goal can be achieved through 140 posts on Twitter."
