The Kuntsevsky District Court of Moscow on Tuesday sentenced Matvey Urin to four and a half years in a general regime colony. The disgraced banker was again found guilty of beating Dutch citizen Jorrit Joost Faassen. The Dutchman, according to media reports, was in the past a top manager of one of Gazprom’s subsidiaries.

The driver Urin and six of his guards received from 2.5 to 4.5 years in prison on Tuesday. The court found them guilty of hooliganism, battery and damage to other people's property.

Urin has been found guilty of a crime for the second time by the Kuntsevo court. The first time, in mid-April, he was sentenced to three years in prison. However, the decision of the lower court did not suit the Moscow City Court. As a result, at the end of June the case was sent for review.

According to the investigation, the conflict between Urin and the victim occurred on November 14, 2010. It began when the banker did not give way to Faassen’s BMW on Rublevo-Uspenskoye Highway. Then Urin, under the pretext of complaints about the incident, ordered his guards to “organize the pursuit and beating” of the Dutchman, as well as “damage to his car.” In the area of the 5th km of Rublevskoye Highway, they overtook and blocked Faassen’s car. Threatening him with weapons, Urin’s subordinates beat the Dutchman and damaged the BMW.

On the same day, all the attackers were detained. Urin soon became involved in another case related to the production of counterfeit Trado-Bank promissory notes in the amount of more than 214 million rubles. Since the beginning of the year, the Main Investigation Department of the Moscow City Internal Affairs Directorate has been investigating it.

In December 2010, due to problems with making customer payments and returning deposits, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation revoked the licenses of Slavyansky Bank, Trado-Bank, Donbank and Uralfinprombank controlled by the prisoner. On April 18, 2011, the same fate befell Sotsgorbank.
