The German government, in principle, is positively related to the further strengthening of cooperation with Russia in the energy region. The possibility of participating in specific projects should still be studied, according to a statement by the Federal Ministry of Economics, widespread on November 14 in Berlin.
If the Russian giant Gazprom, in addition to existing projects, will wish to expand its activities in Germany, such an opportunity should be "checked in the most thoroughly."
"Germany is open to the activities of foreign investors, if the relevant requirements are respected, in particular regarding the rules of conscientious competition," DW -World quotes the document quoted.
German companies can negotiate cooperation with foreign firms, additional agreements, such as proposed by the Russian Minister of Economics Sergei Shmatko in connection with the construction of new power plants, in this case is not required, ”the ministry said.
Earlier on the same day, the Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper published an interview with Shmatko, in which the minister proposed to expand cooperation in the field of energy and to conclude a large -scale alliance for this purpose.
The proposal has become unexpected in the current situation, notes the publication, recently relations between Russia and Western Europe in the energy sector have become aggravated.
The European Union is trying to resist the expansion of Gazprom in the markets. In addition, between the Russian concern and German consumers, for example, E.on, a conflict arose about gas prices. Antimonopoly departments made warnings in connection with the Russian-German cooperation.
The AFP agency draws attention to the words of Shmatko that Germany, after leaving the nuclear energy, will need new power plants with a total capacity of 10 to 12 gigavatts. So much electricity can produce from 10 to 15 large stations.
“We are ready to finance large -scale projects,” Shmatko assured. According to experts, we are talking about giant amounts. For the construction of new power plants, an investment of up to 15 billion euros will be needed.
Also on Monday, Gazprom confirmed that through the London subsidiary Gazprom Marketing & Trading acquired a small Hessian company Envacom Services, which is engaged in the supply of electricity to the population, and is also an operator of telecommunication communications. Now the company will be called Gazprom Marketing & Trading Retail Germania GmbH.
