Residents of the Israeli town of Abu-Gosh, located 10 kilometers from Jerusalem, came up with the initiative to give one of the local streets the name Kadyrov. True, it is not about the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, but about his father, the first President of Chechnya Akhmade Kadyrov.

"The name of the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov will be carved on the tablets with which all the buildings of this street will be decorated. The ancestors of Abu-Gosh residents left the Chechen land five centuries ago. We always dreamed of restoring the lost ties with the historical homeland. And this is only our first step in this direction," the press service of the Chechen government said.

In the outskirts of Jerusalem, the Chechens-Muhadzhirs moved at the beginning of the 16th century, when the city was in the power of the Turkish sultanate. During the Ottoman Empire, they were in the elite troops of the Mamluks. For fidelity and devotion, the Turkish Shah gave them the lands, where Abu-Gosh is now located.

Now in this town there are over 7 thousand descendants of Chechen immigrants. However, some ethnographers argue that the inhabitants of Abu Gosha, although they are descendants of immigrants from the Western Caucasus, but do not come from Chechens, but from Circassians.

Understanding the need to strengthen the cultural ties of Abu-Gosh and Terrible arose in mid-November, when a delegation of representatives of the Chechen government arrived in Israel, Newsru Israel reports. Then it was decided to build a school and the Chechen cultural center in Abu. In turn, the authorities of the Israeli settlement visited Grozny and Moscow.

Currently, the initiative of residents of renaming the street has already been approved by the authorities, there are "formalities" - for example, replacing old tablets with the name of the street with new ones. However, they do not intend to dwell on Abush at this. Now a new mosque is being built there, and they also want to give the name Akhmad Kadyrov. And the authorities plan to create an association on cultural exchange between Chechnya and Abu-Gosh.

"We do not want to limit ourselves to a visit to the Chechen Republic, we have more extensive plans for the revival of the language, culture and customs of Chechens in our community. We want to reintegrated into Chechen society and hope that some steps in this direction will already be taken in this direction," local authorities say.

The renaming of Israeli street created a precedent, since before not a single geographical object abroad received the name Akhmad Kadyrov. In Russia, there are about 40 streets named after Kadyrov, mainly all of them are in the Chechen villages. In 2004, the street with the same name appeared in the Moscow district of South Butovo. In the Ingush Magas there is an alley named after Kadyrov. And in Grozny, a square, a park, square and avenue, as well as a stadium, is named after him.
