In the famous St. Nicholas Church in Byngi, a large icon of the Last Judgment hung at the entrance on the right side. The entire temple was decorated by Nevyansk icon painters, the central iconostasis is from the end of the 18th century, a very high level. Left side aisle - 20s of the 19th century. Right - 60s of the XIX century. But “The Last Judgment” is a completely different letter. I’m not afraid to say, such a people’s icon. I think that the 70s-80s of the 19th century. And since it hung high, the grandmothers, wiping it, hung rags on sticks, just like a sailor on the deck of a steamship!...
We took it for restoration. Lyuba Lapteva, ARHA student, restorer from the first graduating class of the restoration department of the school. Shadra opened it and glued it. And it’s very difficult to work with, because the icon is painted directly on the board, without gesso, with some incredible mixture of tempera and oil. Not only that, some funny ultramarine backing keeps popping out there!
And then, the famous restorer Vladimir Kondyurov and his son Sergei, also from the first graduating class of the restoration department of the school. Shadra, within a week, right in the museum of the Nevyansk Icon, the Last Judgment was tinted.
Meanwhile, our guys in the workshop on Izoplit washed, rebuilt and strengthened the frame. And the guys who work in Byngi whitewashed and prepared the wall. And yesterday we brought the icon.

On the right side it's the other way around.
In the lower left corner it is shown how, at the call of the archangel's trumpet, under the starry sky, at the Last Judgment, the dead rise from their graves, those swallowed by beasts and sea monsters come to life...
And in the right corner, in hell, Satan sits and holds in his hands a man, who do you think?... You guessed it right - Judas. He still has this brown bag in his hands...
