Officials' salaries are twice the national average

The salary of federal officials is twice the average salary in the economy and amounts to 53.6 thousand rubles, as follows from Rosstat data published yesterday for January-September 2011. The highest paid officials were employees of Rosoboronpostavka with a salary of 93.6 thousand rubles, surpassing even the presidential administration and the White House apparatus, and the lowest salaries were in the state courier service and Rosmolodezh - 32 thousand rubles.

Despite the fact that the salaries of federal officials are growing much slower than the average salary in the economy, it follows from the new Rosstat report on the number and remuneration of civil servants of federal government agencies in January-September 2011 that civil service does not cease to be an economically profitable occupation. Thus, according to the statistics department, the salary of federal officials in January-September 2011 amounted to 53.6 thousand rubles, having increased by 1.7% compared to January-September 2010. Last year, the average salary of civil servants in January-September 2010 compared to January-September 2009 grew at a more noticeable pace - by 5.2% compared to January-September 2009 and amounted to 52.6 thousand rubles. However, even despite such a fading rate of growth of officials this year and a counter-increase in the average salary in the economy - in January-September 2011 it grew by 12% (in 2010 - by 11.5%), the earnings of federal officials are still twice the average salary in the economy: in the same period it amounted to 22.65 thousand rubles. Earnings of civil servants are comparable to average earnings in Moscow, according to data for nine months of 2011 (51.3 thousand rubles). However, this does not affect the staffing level of government bodies: in 2011 it was 82.8%, in the same period in 2010 - 83.7%.

Rosstat also provides data on the level of earnings of officials of various ministries and departments. Longtime rivals in terms of salary levels - the presidential administration and the government apparatus - this time lost first place in terms of earnings to officials from the Federal Agency for the Supply of Arms, Military and Special Equipment (Rosoboronpostavka). They are the highest paid employees with a salary of 93.6 thousand rubles. The earnings of government officials for the nine months of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010 fell by 7% and amounted to 86.6 thousand rubles. As a result, officials of the presidential administration took second place with salaries of 87.1 thousand rubles. Employees of the Accounts Chamber with earnings of 78 thousand rubles are trying to reach them. and employees of the Presidential Administration, as well as tax officials with a salary of 75 thousand rubles.

The most highly profitable job among ministries is work in the Ministry of Finance - the average salary of employees there is 64 thousand rubles. The Ministry of Health is not far behind - 61 thousand rubles. The lowest paid employees were employees of the Ministry of Industry and Trade - 45.1 thousand rubles, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Sports and Tourism - where the average salary is 46 thousand rubles. Employees of the courier service (32 thousand rubles per month) and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) - 32.6 thousand rubles cost the budget the least. per month.
