The Art Manege fair opens in Moscow. The event will take place from November 30 to December 4. Objects of traditional art, in particular works of the sixties, will be presented at the Manege, said Kommersant FM art columnist Dmitry Butkevich.

The largest contemporary art fair “Art-Manege” is taking place for the 16th time. It opens on Wednesday, November 30th and runs until Sunday, December 4th. 60 participants - galleries from Moscow, St. Petersburg, other Russian cities, as well as from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Italy and Israel.

A reasonable question: how does this fair differ from “Art Moscow”, which, by the way, is also the largest? The answer is simple: there is trendy, contemporary art, sometimes on the verge of provocativeness. In the Manege there is traditional, figurative art; This, according to the organizers, is the cross-cutting theme of the fair, reflected in most projects and stands. As for the possible reproaches that “Art Manege” is similar to an art market, well, after all, people participate in fairs in order to sell, be it the most current object or a traditional realistic landscape. Who likes what.

Traditionally, the sixties are represented at the Art Manege: Neizvestny, Nemukhin, Rabin, Tselkov, Plavinsky; there will also be rare “guests” of Moscow - artists from the school of Sterligov, a St. Petersburg follower of Malevich; as well as works of contemporary painters and various artistic projects, personal and thematic.

Right at the entrance, visitors are greeted by two large-scale paintings by the classic Soviet portrait and landscape Dmitry Nalbandyan: a sketch for the painting “Tolstoy and Gorky in Yasnaya Polyana” (116 by 100 cm; 1954) and “Mossovet” (147x198; 1991). Like the tuning fork of the entire fair.
