Profitable war

In August 2008, I was grossly mistaken - I predicted that there would be no war between Russia and Georgia.
The fact is that I simply didn’t have enough imagination to imagine - FOR WHAT, WHY should Russia fight?

Now I understand.

So, first, about the “small winning price”.

Russia has ruined relations with the West.
Not for long - the hole was somehow patched. But the seam remains - it now runs across the entire “reputation of Russia.” An aggressor, an imperialist - previously in the West Russia could be falsely accused of this. Now - with reference to this war. For Western public opinion, 08.08.08 is the same undoubted proof of “Russian imperialism” as for Russian public opinion, the war in Serbia or Iraq proves the aggressiveness and imperialism of the United States. You can't wash yourself off.

In addition, over the past 3 years, Russia has poured in who knows how many billions of dollars into...
And who knows - what and where? Nobody knows. I’m afraid that Kokoity himself no longer knows...
The stolen money somehow disappears somewhere and then no one will find it.

So, all this is the PRICE that Russia paid.

WHAT DID SHE PAY FOR?

This is what I couldn’t understand.
And since it was easy to foresee the price, I didn’t understand why the hell Moscow needed this stupid “war.”

And now I understand - they didn’t fight in vain!

For the price paid, Russia received a truly important product.

Namely: SOUTH OSSETIA TEACHES RUSSIA DEMOCRACY.
And fair, competitive elections.

A very relevant lesson...

Agree: ON TIME.

It’s not even that important who ultimately becomes the recipient of the Russian budget money.
More important is the LESSON itself: competitive elections with a change of power are possible not only in Sweden. Not only in Mongolia. Not only in Ukraine, in Moldova. But also in South Ossetia, already with Russian money.

So they fought - not in vain.
With great benefit for yourself.

At the beginning of time, the Russians turned to the Varangians: our land is great and abundant, but there is no order in it.
Come and rule over us.

In the 21st century, we turn to South Ossetia: our land is great and abundant, but there is no democracy in it.
Come to us and show us what competitive elections are.

I have no doubt that our leadership, in August 2008, foresaw such a development of events (“to lead means to foresee”) and deliberately went to war so that in such a cunning way Russia could get a lesson in democracy on the nose.

It is clear that I was not capable of such foresight - and I could not guess what the true meaning of the war was.
This is probably one of the reasons why I am an untrained ordinary man, and the President is the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

PS And now it remains to see what kind of democracy Russia will teach South Ossetia.
Who is more likely to teach someone a lesson...
