Russia became the chairman of the UN Security Council

The chairmanship of the UN Security Council from December 1, 2011 passed to Russia for a month, RBC reports.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that among those that have to be discussed by the Council of People's Commissars, the situation in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Burundi and the Central African Republic, the situation in the Middle East, Cyprus and the Golan heights.

In December 2011, there will also be a discussion of the activities of the UN regional center for preventive diplomacy in Central Asia, the functioning of the International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (MTBU) and Rwanda (MTR), as well as the problems of peacekeeping operations of the UN. Briefings of the chairmen of the sanctions committees on Iran, Liberia, Sudan will be heard. A meeting for the end of the year on the activities of the auxiliary bodies of the UN Security Council will be held for the end of the year.
