Metro launched in Almaty (Almaty)

Very good news for me - the metro has been launched in the city where I live! In Almaty, the metro began to be built in 1988, then the project was mothballed, re-mothballed, but they built, built, and finally built! Line 8.5 kilometers, seven stations - for one of the largest cities in Central Asia, there is a lot of relief from ground traffic.

The last time I was there was in September, during rush hours the city was stuck in one huge traffic jam. Now there is a chance to get from the airport by bus to Tashkent, then by metro to the upper part of the city and all in about an hour and a half.

Honestly speaking, this is the first positive news in the urban planning of Almaty since the collapse of the Union. Until now - only large-scale development, cutting out green spaces, rolling them into asphalt.
