The Makarov case. Tatiana's letter

I received a letter from Tatyana. I decided to post it. No edits or comments.

It’s probably possible to draw a certain, albeit intermediate, line under these 16 months of madness that my family lived through. If I describe my condition today, it is enormous fatigue. I'm tired of waking up and falling asleep with the same thoughts, tired of hoping every day. But my hope was not in vain. Because, of course, 13 and 5 years old is a HUGE difference. And with this decision of the Moscow City Court, hope - for the Supreme Court and an acquittal - has become even brighter. I continue to hope and want only one thing - for my family to be left alone. I want to live a quiet life, having gone “to the wilderness, to Saratov.” Raising a daughter with her husband. I want to enjoy every day and quickly forget about these circles of hell. I wouldn’t wish everything I went through on my enemy.

First of all, all of you helped me cope with this nightmare. Friends. Support groups. Those who did not remain indifferent to our misfortune. What a blessing that there are so many of you! The supporters who support us live from Kamchatka to Toronto and from Almaty to the islands in the Baltic Sea. I can imagine how difficult it is to understand documents, evidence, examinations, build a chain of events and, despite abundant distortions, speculation and rumors, BELIEVE and accept the only correct position. But you did it. And my gratitude to you knows no bounds.

I would like to name the names of those first who initially believed me and began to delve into all the intricacies of our delusional process - these are Olya Romanova, Denis Gutsko, Katya Gordeeva, Irina Yasina, Evgeniy Tarlo, Masha Eismont, Alisa Gordeeva, Dasha Tokareva. I am grateful to those who wrote me words of support every day, sent letters to the prosecutor’s office, fought “trolls”, went to rallies, commented on media publications and simply stayed with us. I am grateful to all the journalists who, despite everything, objectively understood our case, met with experts and wrote professional materials. I am grateful to those specialists: geneticists, polygraph examiners, psychologists, criminologists, lawyers who gave valuable advice and wrote their opinions on the case absolutely free of charge. I would like to say a special thank you to Larry Poltavtsev for the super investigations and the high-quality moderating activity of Lena Abramova - being located far from us geographically - in the USA, they took my misfortune very close to their hearts...

I am sure that not a single word or deed was wasted!

I couldn't have done it alone. I simply no longer have the strength or emotions to fight those who are trying to hammer into society the idea that I am protecting the “husband’s side” instead of protecting the “child’s side.” We did not have and do not have these sides. We have one side - the side of our family, and there is a side of mistakes, incompetence and lies from which our family suffers. I protect my daughter’s future because, forgive me, she won’t really care whether she is labeled “a victim of a rapist” or “a victim of a libertine.” Both are nonsense and absurdity that have nothing to do with reality. Of course, we will go further and hope for justice in the Supreme Court.

No one can predict how it will end in the end. But you know, when my daughter is old enough to know this whole story without hiding, I will at least be able to tell her, like Jack Nicholson’s character in the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”: “At least I tried”...
