The government of the Volgograd region approved a long-term regional target program "Development of consumer cooperation in the Volgograd region" for 2012-2014. As stated in the press service of the regional administration, the goal of the program is to create conditions for the sustainable development of the consumer cooperation system and saturate the market with goods of its own production.
The total amount of funding for the activities provided for under the program is 609.5 million rubles over three years. Of these, 61.9 million rubles are funds from the regional budget.
“It is expected that as a result of the implementation of the program, the total turnover of consumer cooperation enterprises will increase by 27% compared to 2010, the retail turnover of consumer cooperation enterprises will increase by 30%, and the volume of marketable products will increase by 14%,” the report notes.
Currently, the consumer cooperation system of the Volgograd region includes 3 retail markets, 8 sausage shops, 21 confectionery shops, 18 shops for the production of semi-finished products, a mushroom growing shop, sewing and carpentry shops, 2 mills and more than 350 stores. The total volume of activity of consumer cooperation enterprises in the region in 2010 amounted to 2.2 billion rubles (about 1% of total trade turnover). It is planned to increase it to 2.8 billion rubles in 2014.
