The head of the Eat Sleep Play studio, which is developing a new game from the Twisted Metal series, said in an interview with Eurogamer that he is against introducing a one-time code system for his project. David Jaffe noted that the most important thing for him now is to build relationships with fans, and the financial losses that the studio may suffer by abandoning one-time codes are not so important.

"I would rather we didn't have this [one-time codes], even if it's profitable. Now we need to gain the trust of people, especially in Europe. We need to let them know that Twisted Metal is a game that deserves interest." - said the developer.

According to Jaffe, the final decision on whether the game will have a one-time code system will be made by Sony . “I don’t think they’ve decided anything yet,” the studio head added. - “Well, or at least they didn’t tell me about it.”

One-time codes that come with new copies of games are needed to access their online features, such as multiplayer mode. Multiplayer in Twisted Metal is the most important part of the game, therefore, as the developer noted, the easier it is for users to play online, the better the franchise will develop in the long term.

“I don’t mind if we lose a little money on the first game if it gets people to play Twisted Metal who otherwise wouldn’t be able to,” the developer concluded.

The Eat Sleep Play project will be released on February 14, 2012. The game will be released on PlayStation 3.

Projects in the genre of car battles belonging to the Twisted Metal series have been released exclusively on Sony consoles since 1996.
