Iran intends to study the technology of the CIA drone that fell in eastern Iran in early December and use it to create its own UAVs. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Hossein Ebrahimi, as reported by the Iranian Press TV channel. According to him, Iranian scientists are able to reverse engineer the captured sample.

According to Parviz Sorouri, a representative of the Iranian Committee on Foreign Policy and National Security, quoted by Al-Alam TV channel, the new Iranian stealth drones will be significantly more maneuverable than the American RQ-170 Sentinel. Currently, Iranian specialists are finishing decoding data from the drone’s carriers. The information obtained is planned to be used against the United States.

As Soruri noted, the Iranian military managed to detect and intercept the RQ-170, disabling the electronic control system of the UAV without significant damage to the device. According to unconfirmed reports, 1L222 Avtobaza electronic warfare systems were used to intercept control of the drone. Russia supplied Iran with such systems in October of this year. The US previously said the drone fell on its own when it ran out of fuel.
