Olympic champion in men's single skating Evgeny Plushenko was included in the list of participants in the Panin Memorial starting on Tuesday in St. Petersburg.

For Plushenko, the Panin memorial was to be the first competitive start after the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver (not counting the commercial tournament in Japan in the fall of 2010) and one of the stages of preparation for the Russian championship in Saransk, which will be held on December 25-28.

On Tuesday morning, the draw of participants in the Panin memorial participants took place. A short program participants in the competition in men's single skating will be performed on Wednesday, arbitrary - on Thursday. The tournament will be held at the Academy of Figure Skating of St. Petersburg.

Later, on Tuesday, it turned out that Plushenko at the last moment refused to participate in the Panin memorial due to the unpreparedness for the competition.

“The surname Plushenko really was on the lists of participants in the Panin memorial, but Zhenya will not start,” the athlete coach Alexei Mishin told the R -Sport agency. “Due to the unpreparedness for these competitions. He was healthy, but recently he was treated, underwent various procedures and did not have time to prepare for the Panin memorial.”

At the same time, Mishin confirmed that Plushenko would take part in the Russian championship. “There will be enough time for the time for the Russian Championship,” the coach noted. “He will play in Saransk.”

Recall that Yevgeny Plushenko is the 2006 Olympic champion, a two -time silver medalist of the Olympic Games. He plans to take part in the same games - in Sochi in 2014.
