Sympathy for Madam Revenge

The protracted process over Yulia Tymoshenko and everything that happens in the last weeks around him is most reminiscent of the amateur absurd theater, and the most ungrateful thing is to look for intelligible logic in this absurdity.

Nevertheless: in addition to the irrational revenge in this “game of the regionals”, at first there was at least some rational moment against Tymoshenko-the Ukrainian government thus tried to create some arguments in gas auction. And the skepticism of Russia regarding the Kyiv court was not dictated by sympathy for the Ukrainian opposition, but by all the same gas pragmatics. Ultimately, the criminal “argument” did not work, but Moscow and Kyiv, it seems, agreed on gas. Tymoshenko’s verdict was issued back in October, and the parliamentary amendment about the “decriminalization” did not pass in fact. In this case, it is difficult to say what those who introduced it and those who did not adopt it achieved. In fact, there were several different versions of the same “decriminalization”, but this is a separate story.

Be that as it may, but the former prime minister was waiting for the colony. However, Tymoshenko remains in the pre -trial detention center, and the passions in the center of Kyiv were heated again, since the Lukyanovsky prisoner is “arrested” the second time. Now she is not presented with fresh “gas prices”, but long -standing debts of EES (or rather, an attempt to transfer these debts to state budget) and tax evasion. From a legal point of view, this, oddly enough, can be seen in some meaning: a criminal case on the EES is much more justified than the story of “excess of powers” ​​when signing a gas contract. It is difficult to say how it is with the statute of limitations, but it seems that the accusation was driven by a simple logic of the Yulka -Thief street slogan. Like, look, people, she steals for a long time and for a long time, and her accomplice Pavel Lazarenko was legally condemned by the most democratic in the world by the American court.

But the observer-internal or external, media or inexperienced-creates that the logic of “regional” lawyers is some kind of absolute thing in itself, separate from Kyiv street, from the anger of the day and simply from normal human logic. Why hastily arrest a person who is already sitting in a pre -trial detention center? Why, in principle, leave this person in the Kiev pre -trial detention center and predictably wake passions in Khreshchatyk? Why again bring the “Golden Eagle” and “cores” by the Pechersk court to the combat readiness? The nasty side, in turn, winds up the momentum, distributing an interview about the “mysterious illness” of the Lukyanovsky prisoner, about the “rat poison”, which sprayed the walls of the camera, about the “killers in white robes” and the nobility of Tymoshenko to the Nobel Prize. The crowd storms the gates of the court, and as if in response, so that there is no longer any doubts about the absolute psychological insanity of the prosecution, a “exit meeting” is appointed, and Tymoshenko is judged ... in the isolationist of the pre -trial detention center, in the absence of journalists and defenders.

Why is all this on the eve of the bilateral summit of Ukraine-Es and the next consideration of the issue of associative membership? The easiest way to answer is that there is no logic in what is happening, as well as in the heads of the judges and those who are behind them, there is no. And it will be like the truth. The power is sealed and inadequate, we often attribute to it or try to attribute the logic that is consistent with our logic and the realities of our life, we fill the void.

Nevertheless, Ukrainian observers are looking for causes and find them. Mostly, they are trying to answer the question of why both parties need Tymoshenko in the center of Kyiv and in the center of events. The first and banal answer: in order to occupy the minds and distract attention from some other events (which exactly-it does not matter, can be substituted at will). Or to “replace” the real opposition to Tymoshenko’s decorative and incompetent Tymoshenko (but what, where is she?). There is another version that is a little less banal, but also begging: Tymoshenko in Kyiv and the mess on Khreshchatyk most of all we need weak opposition and the “Butovites” losing popularity. For the resolution of this situation is in any direction-the departure of the disgraced ex-Prime Minister for house arrest, to the hospital or colony means departure into the shadow and ... oblivion.

At the same time, one side deliberately hits a natural and non -resistant emotion: pity for the victim and prisoner, and the other seems to not understand elementary things and multiply procedural stupid things, which are then called the opposition in the lips of the torture. The rhetorical gap between the real politician Yulia Tymoshenko and the virtual “martyr of democracy”, as well as the difference between the more or less well -known conditions of detention in the “economic” block of the Lukyanovsky pre -trial detention center (recently, the regionals published the pictures of “Euro -chambers”, which ultimately only warmed up passions) and medieval “tortures in Zingan”, seem obvious, and there less! No matter how you relate to Tymoshenko (and this, by the way, is the ritual instinct of her media lawyers - they say, I have never been a fan or a supporter of Tymoshenko, but ...), everything that we know about reality retreats before a natural pity for a middle -aged and unhealthy woman, which has become part of her, but now, mainly, alien ambitions.
