Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov was transferred from intensive care to the therapeutic department of the 64th hospital. Let us remember that this was preceded by a long dry hunger strike, which he held since December 4, when he was detained and accused of jaywalking (and later, on December 10, he was sentenced to an additional 15 days of arrest for leaving his place of detention without permission). While Udaltsov was on a hunger strike, they repeatedly refused to hospitalize him, or they took him to the hospital, quickly pumped him full of drugs and took him back to the special detention center where he was being held. At the moment, Udaltsov’s life is not in danger, but he faces long-term treatment. He has big problems with his stomach and kidneys. As the Dozhd network TV channel reports, a little more and irreversible processes would have begun in his body. At the request of doctors, Udaltsov began a gradual exit from the hunger strike. He will stay in the hospital until the end of the week so that his body can gradually recover. His security was not removed, but, according to Udaltsov, the hunger strike made sense because, firstly, the cases against him were fabricated and this was the only way to express his protest, and secondly, the conditions in the hospital are much better than a special detention center , besides, visitors can come to him almost every day.
Now lawyers are working to ensure that the court releases Udaltsov early from further serving his arrest for medical reasons. In this case, he will be able to take part in the rally on December 24. Otherwise, he will remain in custody until December 25.
On December 22 at Chistye Prudy, from 19.00 to 21.00, a picket will be held at the monument to Griboedov in defense of political prisoners and against the persecution of public and political figures.
