According to the correspondent Radio Liberty in Belarus Igor Karney, on Monday on Independence Square and along the central avenue of Minsk, people tried to light candles in memory of "Black Sunday". However, they were immediately put in police buses.

The Minsk police acted as tough as a year ago. According to human rights defenders, more than 30 people were detained near the church of Saints Simon and Elena, where people gathered for a collective prayer for political prisoners and changes in Belarus. At the same time, people were beaten with batons on the head, dragged on the ground and threw right on the floor of police buses.

Dozens of people were arrested in the area of the metropolitan square of Yakub Kolas. Everyone was detained only for trying to light candles. On Oktyabrskaya Square, former political prisoners Nikita Likhovid and Vasily Parfenkov were detained, accused of organizing riots on December 19, 2010.

Some democratic activists managed to call associates from police sites. According to them, riot police behave cruelly and in a hamian: policemen beat people with their feet, threaten reprisal, prison. For several hours, the former presidential candidate Vitaliy Rymashevsky, who was taken away before the start of the action, was chained to the bench.

A number of opposition activists are preventively neutralized. The defendant of the criminal case of riots Sergey Kazakov was captured. Public activist Alexander Borozenko was detained. Police officers broke home to the activist of the European Belarus campaign Maxim Vinyarsky. The leader of the United Civil Party Anatoly Lebedko was blocked in the apartment.

The Prosecutor General’s Office warned the deputy chairman of the “Young Front” Anastasia Polozhanko about the inadmissibility of participation in mass events. The police were called by the ex-candidate for president Vladimir Neklyaev and journalist Irina Khalip-the wife of the former presidential candidate Andrei Sannikova.
