In Moscow today an informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held. It is expected that the presidents of all 11 CIS countries will take part in it.
The current meeting is the anniversary, the Commonwealth was created exactly 20 years ago. It included all the republics of the former Soviet Union, except Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as Georgia. Having later entered the CIS, Georgia again left it in 2008 after an armed conflict with Russia.
On the eve of Moscow, the leaders of Russia, Belarusia and Kazakhstan - states that formed the Customs Union - agreed to create the Eurasian Economic Commission.
