Investigators of the Republic of Khakassia began an investigation on the death of a newborn in the Abakan hospital. According to preliminary data, during the birth, the Aesculapius broke the baby the foundation of the skull, which led to his death.

On Monday, a criminal case was opened against doctors of the Abakan maternity hospital under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence due to improper performance by a person of his professional duties), the official website of the Khakassia Investigative Department reports. Criminals are facing a three -year period of imprisonment.

A statement with a request to bring doctors to criminal liability for negligence was left in the Abakan police department as early as November 19. It was written by a 26-year-old woman who lost during childbirth.

According to the investigation, on October 10, 2011, the victim, while at the fortieth week of pregnancy, entered the pathological department of the Abakan maternity hospital. In connection with the beginning of the birth activity on October 13, 2011, the woman was transferred to the observation department of the maternity hospital.

"As a result of complications that arose during childbirth, employees of a medical institution who took birth, the child was caused damage in the form of a fracture of the bases of the bones of the skull," the press release said. From the injuries received, the newborn died on October 31, 2011 in the intensive care unit of the Abakan Children's City Hospital.

"Currently, urgent investigative actions are being carried out in the case, aimed at establishing all the circumstances of what happened. The investigation of the criminal case continues," the investigation was concluded.
