The case was also aggravated by the fact that the main character was played by the wife of the playwright, who once repelled her from an aristocrat. In a word, the play had a real life back and was also written by the author with extreme frankness. Freken Julie was returned to the stage only in 1906. Since then, she has become one of the most popular plays in the world.

In the theater of nations in Moscow, the famous German director Thomas Ostermayer, a radical and an experimenter, turning any classics into an acute -social drama, turned to her. It is clear that this time the canonical text was prepared as much as possible.
