
Colonel General Alexander Shlyakhturov left the post of head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, Kommersant reports. According to the publication, in the near future he should change the head of Roscosmos Vladimir Popovkin to the posts of the head of the Board of Directors of OJSC MIT Corporation, a developer of strategic missile systems, including Bulava missiles.
The 64-year-old Shlyakhturov headed the GRU from April 14, 2009, before that he was deputy head of the department and oversaw strategic intelligence. There is practically no data on his previous career due to the specifics of the GRU. It is known that he graduated from the Military Diplomatic Academy and worked under the guise of the position of an employee of the Middle Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The general enjoys the confidence of the Minister of Defense Anatoly Serdyukov, who needs his own person in Mita, who in 2011, which came into conflict with the military department regarding the value of his products. Since July, Alexander Shlyakhturov has been the chairman of the board of directors of OJSC OPENSService (part of the Ministry of Defense).
