Tymoshenko was transferred to the colony in the Kharkov region

The ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, sentenced to seven years in the case of a gas contract with Russia, was transferred to one of the colonies of the Kharkov region, RIA Novosti reports. "Tymoshenko has already been transferred from the investigative insulator," said Igor Andrushko, assistant to the head of the penitentiary service of Ukraine. The day before, it became known that Tymoshenko would be sent to the colony before the New Year. Her lawyer Sergey Vlasenko said this. A little earlier, sources of Ukrainian Pravda reported about Tymoshenko. As the source of the publication said, Tymoshenko was transported in a wheelchair, since she cannot move on her own.

The prisoners of the Kachanovsky correctional colony for women, where Tymoshenko was transferred, are engaged in sewing bedding, working clothing and uniforms for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and also work with wood and concrete, an entire enterprise operates on the territory of the colony.

"As for the message on the Internet that Yulia Tymoshenko was moved in a wheelchair, this information is not true, it is far -fetched circumstances designed to cause unreasonable sympathy regarding its health," the Ukrainian penalty service said.

On December 21, President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said that he was personally interested in Yulia Tymoshenko "as soon as possible" to be released from custody, but cannot intervene in this process. "I am not against Tymoshenko to be released under certain conditions provided for in Ukrainian laws. Moreover, I would like this matter to be completed as soon as possible. I am more interested in more than someone else," Yanukovych said.

At the same time, the president said that if he personally intervenes in the issue of the liberation of Tymoshenko, this will be a crime. “It will also be a crime if I begin to abuse my position,” Yanukovych explained. "The country has the rule of law. And I, as the President,, according to the Constitution, have no right to interfere with the judiciary," he said. Yanukovych did not answer the question if he considers Tymoshenko guilty. “The court decides everything. I will always reckon with the court decision,” Yanukovych said.

“I never want you to replace investigators or judges. I know what it is, and never did it and I will not do it.“ I can’t take responsibility in matters for which I have no authority, ”Yanukovych concluded.

On December 1, the Kyiv Court of Appeal refused to release Yulia Tymoshenko from custody. The defense insisted that the convict needed an operation that cannot be carried out in the pre -trial detention center, but judge Elena Sitilo did not see the grounds for satisfying a petition to change the preventive measure. The statements of the defenders Tymoshenko did not agree to the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine. They stated that the examination of the former prime minister in the Kyiv Regional Hospital showed an improvement in her health.

For health reasons, Tymoshenko was unable to attend a court hearing to consider her appeal for a “gas case” sentence. Nevertheless, the judge Sitilo found it possible to continue the preliminary hearings in the absence of the applicant.

On November 28, Viktor Yanukovych instructed to conduct an examination and treatment of Yulia Tymoshenko at the European level. He announced this during a joint press conference with President Poland Bronislav Komorovsky. "I have recently heard a lot of comments from the lawyers of the former Prime Minister Tymoshenko regarding the maintenance of in prison. And I instructed all institutions who are involved in this issue, to create all the conditions that are provided today, at the European level. We mean treatment, examination, and content."

Yanukovych again recalled that the case against Tymoshenko was begun back in 2009 by decision of the National Security and Defense Council. "It also got it, as they say, inherited. Then Tymoshenko was not the leader of the opposition, but was the Prime Minister of Ukraine," he said.

According to the Ukrainian media, the state of health of Tymoshenko, which has been in jail since August, has recently worsened. Last week, the Ukrainian Ombudsman Nina Karpacheva called on the country's leadership to provide the ex-Prime Minister with medical care outside the pre-trial detention center, because, according to her, Tymoshenko can no longer get out of bed. On November 23, the ex-Prime Minister was examined in one of the Kyiv hospitals.

In October 2011, Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison for abuse of powers when concluding gas contracts with Russia in 2009. Later, she was charged with concealing revenue in the amount of more than $ 165 million, theft of budget funds and tax evasion worth more than $ 5.8 million. These episodes relate to the work of Tymoshenko as president of the President of the Corporation "Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine" in 1996-97. In total, four criminal cases regarding the work of the former prime minister in the EECU are resumed. All of them are combined into one production.
