The court on Friday sentenced to three years in prison Khazbulat Markiev, the defendant in a high -profile case of the murder of the Rostov student Maxim Sychev. According to RIA Novosti , such a sentence sounded on Friday in the Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don, where hearings were held.
According to investigators, in the evening of November 22 last year, a student from Ingushetia Markiev near the hostel of the Rostov State Construction University applied a wrestling reception to the student of this university, from which the young man fell, hitting his head on the ground. On the same day, he was taken to a medical institution where he died.
History received a great resonance. About two weeks after the death of the student, a rally of his memory was held at the university’s hostel, which grew into a mass procession along the central street of the city with nationalist slogans.
The defendant will have to spend the term of imprisonment in a general regime colony. At the same time, the court took into account the time that Markhiev spent in the investigative isolator under arrest (from December 11, 2010).
The criminal case was instituted under the article on the intentional infliction of serious harm to health, which entailed by negligence the death of the victim. The maximum punishment for this crime is 15 years of imprisonment.
At the first hearing in mid -August, Markiev partially pleaded guilty. The motive of the crime, according to investigators, became hostile relations that developed between students who jointly lived in a hostel.
