The camera, in which the ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko was placed in the Kharkov colony, meets all European requirements and standards of content. This was stated in the State Penitentiary Service of the country in response to the accusations of Tymoshenko’s supporters of being held in "terrible" conditions.
"Today, during the briefing of the defense of Yulia Tymoshenko, the conditions of its content are called terrible. These words are in no way correspond to reality. The camera, which so far contains Tymoshenko with another convicted person, has an area of 37.5 square meters," the country's penitentiary service said .
It is also noted that the camera is equipped with modern equipment, a TV, a microwave, a refrigerator. There is a separate place for cooking, a bathroom with a shower and a washing machine, a bathroom, a bidet.
To prove its statements, the penitentiary service of Ukraine published a photo of the camera on its official website, which contains the ex-Prime Minister.
According to Newsru.ua , the defenders of Tymoshenko were also outraged that constant video surveillance is carried out in the cell.
"They continue to mock her (Julia Tymoshenko), a video surveillance camera is installed above her bed, and she is under constant supervision for 24 hours a day. This is done in order to once again fulfill Yanukovych’s order and mock the leader of the Ukrainian opposition. I can also note that she has a light directed directly to the bed. I didn’t sleep, ”said defender Sergei Vlasenko to reporters on Tuesday near the colony building.
In the penitentiary service, the presence of video surveillance and duty lighting in the chamber is explained by the requirements of national construction norms for investigative insulators.
Recall, on December 30, Tymoshenko, serving a seven -year term for abuse of powers when signing gas contracts with the Russian Federation in 2009, was transferred for serving a sentence from the Kyiv investigative insulator (pre -trial detention center) to the Kachanovsky penal colony N54 in Kharkov.
