
On the first day of the car dealership in Detroit, the results of the competition for the best car of the year in North America were summed up. Traditionally, prizes are awarded in two nominations - for the best SUV and the best car. This year, the Hyundai Elantra sedan and the Range Rover Evoque cross.
The jury of the competition consisted of 50 journalists from the USA and Canada, representing printed and Internet media, radio stations and television channels. Initially, they had to choose three finalists in each category - from 17 cars and 7 SUVs, Motor.ru reports.
In addition to the winners, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Passat, BMW X3 and Honda CR-V entered the final.
In 2011, the best cars in the United States were called Chevrolet Volt and Ford Explorer, which during the vote were able to get ahead of the Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Sonata, Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Prior to this, the winners became the Fusion Hybrid sedan and the Transit Connect van.
