In Riga, cars of the president and speaker of the Parliament of Latvia collided

In the center of the Latvian capital on Friday, during the events in honor of the anniversary of the construction of the Barricades in 1991, service cars of the country's president Andris Berzins and the speaker of the Sejm Solvita Aboltini collided. As a result of the accident, no one was injured, local media reported.

The incident occurred near the main monument of the country - a monument of freedom, to which the highest officials should have laid flowers in honor of the 21st anniversary of the January events. At the time of the accident, the chairman of the parliament was in the car, and the head of state had already left his service car, reports ITAR-TASS.

At the site of the accident, the parties issued an agreed protocol on the accident. Insurance companies will now have to resolve the issue of insurance amount and procedure for compensation for damage.

The last accident with the participation of senior officials in Latvia occurred in 2008, when the service car held the post of Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis at that time was faced with a passenger minibus, in which there were 17 people. As a result of an accident, a concussion and the crack of the temporal bone himself received the head of the government. The elderly passenger of the minibus was also injured then.
