Two city officials were detained on suspicion of receiving and giving bribes

An unusual criminal investigation has been launched in Moscow into corruption. Father and son Ivan and Alexey Mezhenin, holding high positions in the capital's administrative bodies, were detained. Mezhenin Jr. was arrested on suspicion of taking a bribe, and his father was arrested for giving a bribe to free his son from criminal liability.

According to the Department of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Moscow, the first to be detained was the head of the special state technical supervision department of the Moscow OATI for the Zelenograd District, Alexey Mezhenin. For 10 thousand rubles. he agreed to assist in registering a snowmobile with the issuance of the relevant documents, as well as state registration numbers, without the inspection and verification of the technical equipment required by law. The official was captured upon receiving the agreed upon amount from the owner of the snowmobile.

After Alexey Mezhenin was detained, detectives said, his father, head of the state road supervision department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Transport in Moscow, Ivan Mezhenin, turned to the police with a request for a reward to help not bring his son to criminal responsibility. According to the Department of Economic Security, the official was first warned that his intentions fell under Art. 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe), however, he did not give up trying to bribe the police. As a result, it was decided to carry out the so-called operational combination and detain Mezhenin Sr. while transferring the money. At the moment when the capital official put the money (the amount in question was 500 thousand rubles) in the office closet of one of the operatives, he was taken. Criminal cases have been initiated against both father and son, respectively, for receiving and giving bribes.
