The largest social network of the VKontakte Runet will finally move to the vk.com domain in the very near future. A few days earlier, the social network changed its logo on VK.com to a more modern website, and its creator and leader Pavel Durov, during her recent performance in Munich at the Digital Life Design conference, called his social network a new name - VK, pronouncing it as “Vikei”.
Users entering the "old" address vkontakte.ru will soon begin to automatically redirect to vk.com. One of the main differences between a short domain in the last months was the lack of advertising on its pages. Whether it will appear now, unknown, passes Vesti.ru .
The exact dates of the “move” are also unknown - on Twitter, social networks posted only a screenshot with a notification that will appear among visitors to vkontakte.ru after inclusion of redirecting at vk.com.
The fact that “VKontakte” “within a month” will completely move to the international domain vk.com, the founder and manager of the project Pavel Durov reported in June last year. Then he said that the logo and the VKontakte brand will remain at the new address.
According to Durov, VK.com "2 times shorter, more beautiful, more convenient for recruitment from mobile devices, easier for foreign users, easier for development."
The social network acquired the domain name vk.com, registered, according to the Whho.is service, in June 1997, in September 2009, saying that he was going to "develop abroad" and launch the versions of her site in 12 languages.
