Khristenko resigned from the post of head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade

Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on the liberation of Viktor Khristenko from the post of head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. This was reported on February 1 by the Kremlin press service. According to the results of the work, Viktor Khristenko was awarded the Order of Honor.

The fact that Khristenko will leave the post of head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade became known on December 19 last year. He leaves this post in connection with the transition to the Eurasian Economic Commission (EC) is a new permanent regulatory body of the Customs Union and the Unified Economic Space of Russia, Belarusian and Kazakhstan, the RIA Novosti website reports.

Viktor Khristenko, who will turn 55 in August, was appointed chairman of the EEC collegium at the end of last year. In this position, he will have the status of an independent international official.

Khristenko worked in the government since July 1997, when he was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance. In March 2004, Khristenko took the post of Minister of Industry and Energy. Subsequently, in 2008, this department was abolished, but two separate ones appeared - the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Energy. The Minister of Industry and Trade of Khristenko has been since May of the same year.

The successor of Khristenko is not yet appointed head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. According to the media, the applicant for this position is his current deputy Denis Manturov. In the Ministry of Industry, he oversees the defense complex, the pharmaceutical industry and the customs tariff policy.
