German President Christian Wulff hid from the public details of one of his vacations, which he could spend in a luxury hotel, the Bild newspaper reports .

As the publication emphasizes, Wulff's vacation from October 31 to November 3, 2007 could be paid for by his wealthy friend David Groenevold, who booked a room for him at the Hotel Stadt Hamburg on the island of Sylt. This follows from documents that journalists received from a source at the hotel.

Moreover, as Bild notes , the hotel staff received instructions from Groenevold not to give out information about the room he had booked and not to disclose anything to journalists. “If Bild or Spiegel calls , we don’t know anything,” Bild quotes an internal order for hotel employees that they received.

The cost of room No. 135, where Wulf spent the night, is €258, Bild journalists found out. According to Bild, Wulf and his wife vacationed in Sylt several times at Grönevold’s expense. From 9 to 16 August 2008, he booked accommodation for Wolf for €1,540. According to Wolf's lawyers, in both cases Groenewold only lent the president money.

Groenewold runs the Berlin film fund, his name has previously surfaced in the scandal with Wulf, he, as previously reported, could pay for the stay of the German president at the Bayerischen Hof hotel in Munich.

The scandal surrounding the German president began in January, when German and international journalists' organizations criticized him. Wulf tried to prevent publications that were undesirable for him by putting pressure on Bild journalists .

The Bild newspaper confirmed that Wulff tried to ban the publication of material about him receiving a private loan in the amount of €500 thousand from the wife of a businessman he knew. In mid-December, he called Bild editor-in-chief Kai Dickman to threaten him with a “final break” with Axel Springer if the newspaper published an article about the loan.

The President of Germany also called the head of the publishing house Axel Springer, which owns Bild.

As it turned out, this story was not the only one. Also, the Springer-owned newspaper Die Welt reported on January 3 that last summer President Wulff tried to prevent the publication of an article in the Sunday edition of Welt am Sonntag about his relationship with his half-sister. One of the authors of the material was called to the presidential residence, and in a face-to-face conversation, Wulf stated that if the article was published, the publication would have trouble.
