A rare case: what is good for the Russians, is simply a “buzz” for the British. For several years now, tens of thousands of people have traditionally come to the center of London to see off Russian Maslenitsa.

London Mayor Boris Johnson, who became the official ambassador of this event, called for a Russian farewell to the current “harsh” English winter with his characteristic energy. He recorded a special video message posted online, where he first “spoiled” in Russian, not failing to note that his great-great-great-grandfather was from Moscow.

On Trafalgar Square on February 26, as part of the “Maslenitsa Festival,” they promise “smoke with a rocker” - they will fry pancakes with might and main, cook borscht and dumplings with all the ensuing consequences. Concert, artistic crafts, paintings and souvenirs, children's corner - in general, Russian speakers of all countries, unite!

The mayor's idea is simple - to attract as many Russians and tourists as possible to London now and later in the summer - for the 2012 Olympics.
